Dear PekFlex gardeners,

On the occasion of the festivities in 2024, we are here together with the Keukenhof gardeners
from PekFlex to plant one of the last flower bulbs in the park. It is called “Istanbul Tulip” which
is a distinct breed.

We are here on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of
Türkiye.

Whereas 2024 will be a festive year for both the Embassy and Keukenhof as well as the Hague.
It will mark 60 years of Turkish immigration to the Netherlands and 100 years of Turkish –
Dutch Friendship. The Keukenhof flower exhibition will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2024.The Hague will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the 1899 The Hague Peace Conference. So
there will be a lot when the Istanbul Tulip will be blossoming next year.
The combination of all the festivities next year and the link between the tulip and Turkey is
an additional reason for the Turkish-Dutch friendship in the form of tulips.

We believe this friendship of almost 500 years will live from here to eternity.
