It is an honor to welcome you to the celebration of the 101^st [one hundred first] anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. Thank you for joining us.

The new Republic was founded in 1923 after the War of Independence led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. We have come a long way since then. President Erdoğan has announced the period ahead as the "Century of Türkiye" where we intend to further develop our country.

As you know, this year we are also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It was one of the first seven countries that recognized the new Turkish Republic.

I believe it was not a coincidence since our relations go back to almost 500 years. Never at war with each other, Türkiye and the Netherlands have maintained their deep-rooted relations in peace for centuries. These hundreds of years are not a long time in the history of nations. In fact, it is a drop in the ocean. But at the end, it is history that binds us to each other. Turkish-Dutch friendship may seem to be young, but it has the strength of centuries.

Our relations have always been special. We founded the Council of Europe, became staunch NATO allies, worked together in UN peacekeeping missions and other organizations such as the OSCE, OECD and OPCW. We are united in our determination to address global challenges. We have several bilateral dialogue mechanisms where one of them, Wittenburg Conference, was launched here in this castle in 2008. Among other visits, like the visit of Prime Minister Rutte to Türkiye, our Foreign Minister H.E. Hakan Fidan paid his first visit to The Hague in April to co-chair the 10^th Wittenburg Conference.

Today we have an increasing trade volume of more than 13 billion Euros. The Netherlands is the largest investor in Türkiye. Likewise, Turkish investments in the Netherlands are at the top for the last two years in terms of Turkish FDI overseas. Since the signing of the Türkiye-Netherlands Labor Agreement in 1964, the Dutch-Turkish community of nearly half a million people has made a great contribution to the Netherlands. That is why, we are also celebrating the 60^th anniversary of the signature of the Labor Agreement this year.

This year we opened our Honorary Consulate General in Amersfoort – the first and only Honorary Consulate General opened after a very long time. Our new Honorary Consul General Mr. Titus Kramer is with us today. We re-opened our Treasury Office at the Embassy. We also re-opened our Commercial Attache Office in Amsterdam we had to suspend at the Second World War.

Before I conclude, I would like to thank H.E. Prime Minister Dick Schoof and H.E. Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp as well as many other Dutch friends and colleagues for their very quick messages of condolences and solidarity for the heinous terror attack to a Turkish factory on 23 October. We will only get up stronger after such attacks.

Hollanda Türk Toplumunun Kıymetli Üyeleri,

Değerli Vatandaşlarımız,

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşunun 101. yıldönümünü kutladığımız resmi kabulümüze hoşgeldiniz.

1923’de kuruluşundan bu yana Türkiye Cumhuriyeti büyük işler başarmıştır. Gelecekte daha büyük işler yapacaktır. Sayın Cumhurbaşkanımızın “Türkiye Yüzyılı” olarak tanımladığı önümüzdeki dönemde, Cumhuriyetimizin kurucularının bıraktığı aynı iradeyle ülkemizi en ileri noktalara taşıma azmindeyiz. Bu nedenle, 23 Ekim’de TUSAŞ tesislerine yapılan terör saldırısı gibi eylemlerin bizi bu hedeften alıkoyması mümkün değildir. Şehitlerimizin mesai arkadaşlarının “İnadına daha fazla çalışacağız, daha fazla üreteceğiz” sözleri hepimize örnek olmalıdır. Milli Savunma Bakanlığımızca hazırlanan ve birazdan izleyeceğimiz filmi de şehitlerimize ve oradaki mesai arkadaşlarıma ithaf ediyoruz.

Bu yıl aynı zamanda, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti ile Hollanda Krallığı arasında 16 Ağustos 1924’de imzalanan Dostluk Antlaşması’nın 100. yıldönümünü de kutluyoruz. Antlaşma imzaladığımız ilk dostlarımızdan biri, I. Dünya Savaşı’nda tarafsız kalmış olan Hollanda olmuştur. Esasen Hollanda ile tarihi dostluğumuz yaklaşık 500 yıla dayanmaktadır. Türkiye ile Hollanda bu derin köklere sahip ilişkilerini yüz yıllardır barış içerisinde sürdürmüştür. Birbiriyle hiç savaşmamıştır. Bu yıl aynı zamanda Türkiye-Hollanda İşgücü Anlaşması’nın imzalanmasının 60. yılını idrak ediyoruz. Bu yıl içinde her iki yıldönümünü de birçok etkinlik ile kutladık, kutluyoruz.

13 milyar Avro’yu aşan ticaret hacmimiz ve iki ülkenin küresel sorunlarda işbirliği sayesinde ilişkilerimiz olumlu bir zeminde ilerlemektedir. Bu yıl karşılıklı ziyarette bulunan birçok heyete ilaveten, Başbakan Sayın Rutte Türkiye’ye gitmiş, 10. Wittenburg Konferansı için Dışişleri Bakanımız Sayın Hakan Fidan ilk kez Lahey’i ziyaret etmiştir.

Bu yıl ayrıca, yurt dışında uzun bir aradan sonra açılan ilk ve bu yılki tek Fahri Başkonsolosluğumuz Amersfoort’ta göreve başladı. Fahri Başkonsolosumuz Sayın Titus Kramer de bu gece aramızda. Büyükelçiliğimiz Hazine ve Maliye Müşavirliği yeniden açıldı. Keza II. Dünya Savaşı nedeniyle 1940’da mecburen kapatılan ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan bu yana buradaki en eski ticari temsilciliğimiz olan Amsterdam Başkonsolosluğu Ticaret Ataşeliğimiz de tekrar açıldı.
